How do your subscriptions work?
Members pre-pay in the spring, which allows us to pay for our expenses as they arise (seeds, equipment, wages). It also helps us to reduce food waste, as we plant for the number of confirmed clients. Together we share in the risks and rewards inherent with growing vegetables in this region. We harvest and deliver the same day to pickup locations in Cochrane and NW Calgary or to your door for an extra fee. Members also receive regular emails with farm updates and recipes, and are invited to help at the farm with weeding or our annual rock picking and fall harvest events.
What do you grow?
We grow over 25 unique and heirloom vegetables or herbs that are suited for our climate and soil so you can experience the best of local seasonal eating. When you sign up, you can let us know if there are any veggies you don't want. All boxes receive a variety of items each week based on the season. We partner with other local farms, like our friends at Hive and Harvest, to provide add-ons.
In 2023, we are offering 8 weeks of fresh veggies. Each delivery will contain 5 vegetables or herbs at peak freshness. Additional items will be available to swap out or add to your bags most weeks as complimentary extras. Following are some examples of what veggies to expect in a typical month.
September - Lettuce; Potatoes; Hubbard Squash; Dill; Tomatoes; Garlic; Onions
Picking Up Shares
Pickup in 2023 is available on Sunday evenings from 7-7:30pm in Cochrane and Calgary (Dalhousie) and on Tuesday evenings (Calgary only) and Wednesday evenings (Cochrane only) delivery available for an additional fee. Members are responsible for picking up their share and washing vegetables before eating. If you cannot pick up your subscription and advise us in advance, we can hold it for you. You can also send a friend to pick up your share. Otherwise, we will put your veggies into a Cochrane free food fridge.
